The Danish team found statistically significant positive associations between VTE and all measurements of body size, including body weight, body mass index (BMI), total body fat mass, waist circumference and hip circumference, among both men and women.
Researchers found that supplementing animals' high-fat diet with curcumin reduced their body weight gain and total body fat, even though food intake was not affected, in contrast to a non-supplemented high-fat-diet group.
After adjusting for factors such as levels of physical activity, researchers found that a higher intake of whole grains was associated with lower amounts of total body fat and abdominal fat.
