A former engineer at Mochdre's Quinton Hazell factory, he was one of three club members to take part in a Tour de France challenge in the French Alps last summer.
Cyclist Steve Slator, of Meltham, joined 7,000 cyclists on one stage of the Tour de France challenge to raise money for Sight Savers International.
