That was the general consensus that emerged from the final meeting of the Toxicogenomics Research Consortium (TRC), a multicenter collaborative initiative established by the NIEHS in 2001 to serve as an extramural arm of the institute's National Center for Toxicogenomics (NCT). Bondaryk continued, "We are pleased to participate in the community-wide 'standardization' initiatives to advance the use of microarray data for research and regulatory submissions, including the current FDA-initiated project and other ongoing efforts with the NIEHS Toxicogenomics Research Consortium. Not only did we create new basic science programs, such as the Environmental Genome Program and the Toxicogenomics Research Consortium, but we became a leader in the areas of environmental justice, community-based participatory research, and K-12 education. |
