According to a study conducted by the Toxics Use Reduction Institute at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, aerosol chlorinated solvents are frequently used in auto shops for brake cleaning, and other solvents, such as toluene, xylene, and acetone, are commonly used for cleaning of paint spray guns and for "off label" uses.
