offers a model for school counselors who want to use an eclectic approach to counseling: the transtheoretical model of change (TTM), which integrates an eclectic approach that allows for multiple intervention strategies and techniques in encouraging change.
The authors advance motivational interviewing and the transtheoretical model of change as a conceptual framework for counseling clients who engage in nonsuicidal self-injurious behaviors.
According to the Transtheoretical Model of Change, patients are in one of several stages of readiness to incorporate new behaviors, (20,22-23) and interventions should be targeted accordingly.
