The Basic Rate Interface The BRI consists of two Bearer channels with a bandwidth capable of transmitting data up to 64 bits/s, and a Delta channel with a 16bit/s.
For higher system throughput, two bearer channels can be bundled together to increase transmitting speed to 128 Kbps using a standard called Multilink PPP.
As a result, customers will be able to rapidly develop mass market handsets that combine Wi-Fi and cellular with seamless handover of calls between the two bearers.
