The comments from UKFI come after Chancellor Alistair Darling said he had "no difficulty" with a Rock building society after European competition chiefs approved plans to split the lender into a so-called good and bad bank. UKFI Chief Executive John Kingman was asked if there would be any rules on whether or not bids could be made from overseas institutions. UKFI, set up last December, handles Britain's 70 percent stake in Royal Bank of Scotland and its 43 percent holding in Lloyds Banking Group which it got after pumping 37 billion pounds into the lenders. |
