Information from UNMOT led in April 1993 to the appointment of a Special Envoy of the Secretary-General. UNMOT operations in the country suffered a major setback on 20 July when four members of its team in Garm were murdered. By unanimously adopting resolution 1099 (1997), the Council also strongly condemned the "acts of mistreatment against UNMOT and other international personnel". |
