Commenting on the award, Argyll and Bute Council s Lead Councillor for Communications, Louise Glen-Lee, said: There is a great tradition of news-making in Argyll and Bute, and Helensburgh URTV
provides a fantastic service and has shown great innovation in presenting local people with the local news they want to see.
It is the first of a network of local channels planned for towns across Britain by URTV, who are funded by a consortium of entrepreneurs.
URTV chief, former BBC radio and TV presenter Jo de Sylva, said: "We'll provide news, views and entertainment to communities at a level most broadcasters can't compete with.
Unique to each retail client, Urban Retail's URTV Television Network is a combination of real-time, live TV delivered by satellite feed with integrated customized, pre-programmed promotion and advertising, interlaced with interactive imagery.
The URTV Television Network will benefit lifestyle retailers by improving branding and merchandising success, as well as reducing training and corporate communications costs through in-store media programming.
