The counselor, working from the basic core qualities of genuineness, unconditional positive regard and empathy (Corey, 2005) would appear to be well prepared to foster these recommendations; however, examination of the counselors' own beliefs is necessary, as well as making a commitment to unlearn any internalized prejudice.
