No Man's Land deals with three soldiers trapped in a no-man's-land trench; a Croat and a Serb, who are wounded, and a third man lying on an unexploded mine. Ag equipment could have a large role in saving the 2,000 people that are killed or maimed each month by unexploded mines in Third World land being farmed, according to Troy Lucyshyn of the Prairie Agricultural Machinery Institute (PAMI), Humboldt, SK. Students in the EPICS I course this year designed a variety of robots that will go into harsh environments such as disaster areas to test for toxic gases, war-torn areas such as Afghanistan to find unexploded mines, or the moon to test for water. |
