An unmanned surface vehicle mine detection demonstration recently undertaken by Northrop Grumman's Oceanic and Naval Systems and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center saw Northrop's AN/AWS-24 mine detection system mounted on an eleven-metre rigid-hull inflatable boat.
The contract calls for the consortium to demonstrate the use of an unmanned surface vehicle (USV) to combat "influence" mines.
