An alternative approach is to leverage the bandwidth at hand by utilizing an array of WAN optimization solutions, such as intelligent flow control; caching and compression; upper layer protocol (ULP) optimization; and prioritization and quality of service (QoS).
A rich array of upper layer protocols is supported for clustering applications, such as MPI, uDAPL, IPoverIB, and SDP, as well as protocols to allow access to existing Fibre Channel and Ethernet networks.
