Reflecting the requirements of the Implementing Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007, DHS assessed risk for the Census Bureau's 100 largest MSAs by population in determining its 2008 Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI) grant allocations.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced today the fiscal year (FY) 2007 Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI) Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) awards.
They examined the distribution of federal funds for the State Homeland Security Grant Program (for planning, training, equipment and exercises) and the Urban Areas Security Initiative (for high risk urban areas) and developed specific recommendations to expedite the process.
