The Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) is demonstrating the interoperability of transponders and optical components for Very Long Reach (VR) applications using alternative modulation techniques this week at the OFC/NFOEC show in Anaheim, California.
Subsequent versions will include Electronic Dispersion Compensation (EDC) and alternate signaling schemes and will cover very long reach (VR) applications (120 km) and longer reaches extending to 160 km.
