10 Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) has advantages over open thoracotomy, such as less postoperative pain and morbidity, earlier mobilisation leading to shorter hospital stays and lower costs, and smaller scars.
Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and wedge biopsy of the lung revealed lymph node pathology, epithelioid granulomata with Langhans giant cells and lymphohistiocytic aggregates.
Pleural biopsy by video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery showed no evidence of malignancy, but heavy lymphoplasmacytic infiltration and chronic necrotizing granulomatous inflammation were found (Figure, panel C).
