When Donna Klein, president and CEO of Corporate Voices for Working Families, a Washington-based nonprofit organization, met with a group of owners and managers of smaller businesses on the subject, they said flexibility simply wasn't an option for anyone running line operations.
The Business Roundtable and Corporate Voices for Working Families recognize that investing smartly in preschool will pay off in a more educated, stable workforce.
But they'll be competing for cash and influence with another labor-oriented group known as Voices for Working Families, launched by Gerald McEntee, head of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees.
