Die Prazisierung "insbesondre das Lappische und Finnische" war teils eine ausdruckliche Hervorhebung des Samischen, der historischen Minderheitssprache Nordschwedens, als Teilgebiet des Fachs, um das sich der Professor von Amts wegen besonders kummern sollte, teils ein Uberbleibsel aus der Zeit um die Jahrhundertwende 1900, als die Russifizierung Finnlands die Befurchtung in Schweden erweckt hatte, dass die Stellung des Finnischen als Lehrfach an der Universitat Helsinki wirklich bedroht war.
