Summer Strallen, who's best known for her appearances in Hollyoaks and on the West End stage in The Sound of Music, plays Nancy, who's horrified when she's forced to swap a cushy office job for the often uncomfortable and cold conditions of the WLA. The WLA was reformed in June 1939 first asking for volunteers and later by conscription with numbers totalling 80,000 by 1944. The WLA membership purchased some 35 percent of the total tickets sold. |
