Notwithstanding that my firm advice to my clients has been that there is no legal basis for any restriction they, nonetheless, have instructed me to agree that no function of any mobile telephone should be accessed or used outside of a phone zone monitored by a WRSO, and that you may reasonably make spot-checks on the mobile telephone records of jockeys for that period of the day in which the restriction is in place.
In the event of a WRSO not being present with a Jockey Club mobile, or a failure of the recording system, jockeys will be allowed to use their phone in a designated zone within hearing distance of the clerk of the scales.
