Sixteen of 31 serum samples from patients with suspected scrub typhus had titers 40-160 on Weil-Felix agglutination test with Proteus OXK antigen in 2003.
Monospot, Weil-Felix, and antibodies against leptospira, brucella, cytomegalovirus, and toxoplasma were all negative.
These diagnoses were made according to the clinical features of the illness and the reactivity of the serum samples to OX19 in Weil-Felix tests.
