IMPACT redux: In a study of 171 frail elderly patients who screened positive for depression in the Kaiser Permanente system, preliminary results at 4 months showed that patients randomized to a health care program adapted from the IMPACT intervention had significantly greater improvements in scores on the Geriatric Depression Scale and reported higher satisfaction with care, compared with patients who received usual geriatric care, said study cocoordinator Susan Enguidanos.
