Researchers at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) and colleagues have identified the bacteria responsible for the disease and say that YBD seems to be getting worse with global warming.
The researchers from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Massachusetts, said emissions from deforestation and bur ning of fossil fuels had increased levels of CO2 in the atmosphere by almost 40% above pre-industrial levels.
The research was done by Eric Montie, who conducted it as a student in the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution-MIT Joint Graduate Program in Oceanography and Ocean Engineering and as a postdoctoral fellow at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI).
