Scientists agree there are probably fewer than 500
Amur tigers remaining in the wild.
The
Amur tiger is recognised by the World Conservation Union as endangered, mostly as a result of over-hunting for its skin and body parts for traditional medicine.
Male
Amur leopards weigh between 32-48 kg, with exceptionally large males weighing up to 60-75 kg.
They are mostly confined to the
Amur region in the far east of Russia.
