This was in no small part because of the British invention of the resonant
cavity magnetron, or radar, which changed the method of aircraft control in blind landing configurations.
In fact, all of the radar activities of the Radiation Lab can be considered the world's biggest ECCM project, since all the Radiation Lab radars utilized the then new
cavity magnetron which operated at microwave frequencies.
Other facts in the film include Birmingham being the place where the
cavity magnetron was invented, a key component of radar and something found in every microwave oven, as well as it being the home of icons like the Spitfire and the original Mini.
