The Illinois State Board of Education last week announced the availability of the
Child and Adult Care Food Program for fiscal year 2019.
The USDA's
Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) provides aid to child and adult care institutions and family or group day care homes to help them provide nutritious foods for young children, disabled people, and older adults.

The report's authors say their recommendations would bring the nutrition standards of the
child and adult care food program (CACFP) in line with the latest nutrition science and dietary guidelines used in other federal food programs, including the national school lunch and school breakfast programs.
NASCCA has also been following congressional hearings and policy discussions on the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as well as legislation on the
Child and Adult Care Food Program. If reauthorized, both ESEA and CACFP will affect the administration and service delivery of child care.
This resource has been prepared to provide information on creditable foods in child care centers, outside-school-hours centers, emergency shelters, at-risk centers, family day care homes, and adult day care centers participating in the
Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
Programs include the Food Stamp Program, the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs, the
Child and Adult Care Food Program, the Food Distribution Programs, and the Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants and Children, called WIC.
