The Army recently redesignated the operational imagery intelligence battalion from the 3rd Military Intelligence Center and renamed it the Army GEOINT Battalion.
A collection manager, potentially located at every level from tactical through strategic, is responsible for determining which intelligence problems commanders want answered and then matching the appropriate collection asset--whether HUMINT, signals intelligence, imagery intelligence, and so forth-to collect against that requirement.
