A spokeswoman told the Irish Mirror: "Rosslare Harbour RNLI launched at approximately 6am at the request of the
Irish Coast Guard following a report that a fisherman was missing from a trawler that left Rosslare in the early hours of this morning.
The Doolin unit of the
Irish Coast Guard along with the Shannon-based search and rescue helicopter were initially tasked to the incident.
More than 100 children were rescued from the Irish Sea after being swept into the water during a junior regatta, the
Irish Coast Guard said yesterday.
A search was carried out by gardai, the Dublin-Wicklow Mountain Rescue and the
Irish Coast Guard.
Gardai responded to the call and requested assistance from the
Irish Coast Guard.
The
Irish Coast Guard Helicopter Rescue 117 was also sent to the scene.
The
Irish Coast Guard found all six passengers safe and unharmed and they were told to don lifejackets as the crew tried to shift the vessel off the rocks.
An
Irish Coast Guard Facebook post said: "Two brave souls were brought home, two remain lost to the sea, but all four will be forever remembered for the sacrifice they made.
The
Irish Coast Guard copter crashed at Blackrock off the Mayo coast in March, killing all four on board - Capt Dara Fitzpatrick, Ciaran Smith, Mark Duffy and Paul Ormsby.
