With this in mind, we have developed a prototype of an X-Y tracker plane, the OFFSET detector, mainly funded by the
Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN), which has been accurately tested with radioactive sources, cosmic rays, and the 62 MeV proton beam available at the Laboratori Nazionali del Sud (LNS) CATANA proton therapy facility.
With this third edition Leroy (Universite de Montreal, Canada) and Rancoita (
Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare, Italy) have continued to refine and expand coverage in response to reader feedback.
The project will help coordinate national Grid projects, many of which are already under way.Alongside CERN and ESA, the other main partners are CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, France), INFN (
Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare, Italy), NIKHEF (National Institute for Nuclear Physics and High Energy Physics, the Netherlands), and PPARC (Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council, UK).
