New Delhi [India], May 31 (ANI): With Lok Sabha elections over, the government on Friday made public the Periodic Labour Force Survey report that placed the unemployment rate at 6.1 per cent for year 2017-18, which is set to be the highest in 45-years.
According to the latest labour force survey, the number of unemployed decreased by 11,200 from the previous month to 1.38 million in April.
Arif Al Mehairi, executive director of Dubai Statistics Center, said: "The results of the Labour Force Survey 2018 illustrate the flexibility and strength of Dubai's economy as it continues to record the lowest rates of unemployment in the world and one of the highest rates in economic participation."
Dubai: Dubai's unemployment rate was just 0.5 per cent last year, which is said to be the world's lowest, according to the Labour Force Survey 2018 published by Dubai Statistics Centre (DSC).
The Labour Force Survey of 2017-18 also showed marginal increase in literacy rate, largely because of people who did not get formal education.
According to the Labour Force Survey (LFS), the area and gender wise rate also went up in rural areas by 22 percent and 22.2 percent respectively while in urban areas, it went up by 25.7 percent and 26 percent respectively.
The more timely labour force survey revealed a 0.5% bounce in average hourly earnings (m/m, sa) after the 0.1% gain in November.
The latest Labour Force Survey figures show that there were 14,000 bus and coach drivers working in the north west in September last year.
Under such circumstances, the Statistics Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has begun releasing a new indicator for the unemployment rate starting from the May 11, 2018 release of the "Labour Force Survey (Detailed Tabulation)" for the period average between January and March 2018.
The unemployment ratedropped to 7.3 per in the second quarter from 10.7 in the previous one and 10.6 per cent in the respective quarter of 2017, the statistical service said citing its labour force survey.
