For many years, massive array of idle disks (MAID) technology has been capitalizing on disk drive idle time to save significant amounts of energy and, in turn, money.
The device integrates and consolidates SATA and SAS disk-based storage that is configurable according to the customers needs and comes with Nexsan's AutoMAID (Automatic Massive Array of Idle Disks) technology to reduce energy consumption and the tools necessary for thin provisioning, storage pooling, tiering and virtualisation, along with mirroring, snapshots and replication.
The Eco-mode function, based on MAID (Massive Array of Idle Disks) technology allows administrators to spin down disk drives that are currently not needed to save up to 10% in energy consumption.
