The system works as an a stable multivibrator continually switching between its two states, neither of which is stable.
The use of a single vibrator has obvious advantages over multivibrator displays, such as cost, complexity, and simplicity in attire.
Composed of two symmetrically thresholded hysteresis comparators whose outputs are combined by an OR gate, the dual comparator drives a conventional monostable multivibrator which produces a 1 ms pulse when incipient latch-up occurs.
When the road surface is sensed, the signal for a one-shot multivibrator is provided.
TI demonstrated an integrated multivibrator with the discrete equivalent of two capacitors, eight resistors, and two diffused-base transistors; and a phase-shift oscillator, with the equivalent of three capacitors, five resistors, and one transistor.
