Headquarters, Department of the Army, has approved the
Operational Requirements Document for the M477.
The requirements are documented in the Combat Air Forces Short Method to Acquire Ready or Replacement Technologies
Operational Requirements Document CAF 304-96-IIIA for Commercial Imagery Exploitation Systems, 23 July 1998; the Joint Services Imagery Processing Systems Program Management Directive 2379(1)PE#0305154D, dated 10 April 1995; mission need statements AESPACECOM MNS (003-92) for Multi-spectral Imagery (MSI) (S/NE), 12 February 1992; and JROCM MNS 070-91, Remote Earth Sensing (5), 22 November 1991.
The tools document the rationale and the process for requirements from the MAA to the
operational requirements document (ORD, now call the initial capabilities document, or ICD).
"The COTS explosion was quicker than what was documented in the ORD (
Operational Requirements Document) for new equipment in the classrooms," said Page.
The Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command developed the host architecture, while the Army Military Police School developed the
operational requirements document. The system comports with the Air Force's operational requirements for the integrated base defense 2020 concept, Stockel told an industry conference organized by the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International.

In fact, the ship that will derive from DD(X) has almost the same mission as the one defined for DD-2 I insofar as the
operational requirements document reportedly has only been slightly modified in a couple of areas.
