In another step in the process of reorganizing its polyamide business, Evonik will be discontinuing the production and sale of polyphthalamide at its Witten site by the end of the first quarter of 2020.

It is noteworthy that the [T.sub.m] of PA52 (302[degrees]C) is much higher than those of conventional polyamides such as PA6 (222[degrees]C) and PA66 (264[degrees]C) and is comparable with those of commercial high-temperature resistant polyamides such as PA46 (DSM Stanyl[R], 290[degrees]C [29, 30]) and polyphthalamide (300-310[degrees]C [31]).
Evonik has expanded its metal substitute materials range, Vestamid HTplus, to include PA6T-and PA10T-based polyphthalamide (PPA) products in a growing number of compounds, including a new product variant with a glass-fibre content of 45 percent.
