In contrast, glycans from serum-type Tf were similar to those of serum
transferrin, i.e., MS analysis revealed that the major peaks of the desialylated PA-glycans from serum-type Tf and those from serum
transferrin were at m/z 1741.96 and 1741.94, respectively (Fig.
Although 29 patients had either elevated
transferrin saturation (>45%) or ferritin (>300 lg/L) levels, many had alternative explanations for their abnormal iron studies, including 5 patients with active malignancy as a likely cause for elevated acute-phase reactants.
Thus, we conclude that serum
transferrin is a good marker to preoperatively judge the likelihood of patient developing postoperative wound infection in closed long bone fracture cases.

Serum
transferrin receptor (sTfR) is another marker which is a truncated form of the
transferrin receptor present on erythroblasts in bone marrow and many other cells in the body.
The basic system of iron metabolism involves the dietary iron absorption by the duodenal enterocytes (Ganz et al., 2012) via duodenal metal transporter-1 (DMT-1) (Gunshin et al., 2001), followed by delivery of iron to the tissues by means of
transferrin (Dunn et al., 2007); an iron-binding protein in plasma; fundamentally involved in iron transportation (Hentze et al., 2004; Morgan1981; Richardson et al., 1997).
One-way ANOVA was used to compare the means of different dependent variables between the three groups, namely, group A, group B, and group C, to find out any impact of obesity on the dependent variables, namely, ferritin, Iron, TIBC, hemoglobin (Hb), and
transferrin saturation.
Control values of serum ferritin and
transferrin were obtained from non-pregnant, non-anemic, healthy females of the same age group.
Among these 12 proteins, 10 of them were upregulated in mature yak FF, including
transferrin and ENOSF1.
