webMethods Inc (Nasdaq: WEBM), a business integration and optimisation software company, announced on Friday (14 April) that the company has been re-elected for a third consecutive term to the Web Services Interoperability (WS-I) Organisation board of directors.
WS-I is an open coalition of industry groups and end-user organisations that aims to advance web services interoperability across heterogeneous platforms, operating systems and programming languages.
"Not only is development of SOAPtest influenced by WS-I, but we have also been working as part of a small subset of companies within the organization on the development of the WS-I testing tools."
The trouble began when the WS-I, which was set up in February 2002 by IBM and Microsoft to promote interoperability between web services, launched three new working groups and announced a list of new members.
The mission of WS-I will be to provide implementation guidance to support customers deploying Web services, promote consistent and reliable interoperability among Web services, and articulate a common industry vision for Web services.
The Web Services Interoperability (WS-I) organization released Basic Profile 1.0, specifying interoperability between SOAP 1.1, WSDL 1.1, UDDI 2.0, XML 1.0 and XML Schema.
