SPICE 2000 consists of an add-on kit for
warheads such as the MK-84, BLU-109, APW and RAP-2000.
In addition, the tested
warheads were built with additive manufacturing to produce the
warheads' precise and complicated geometric shapes relatively quickly, speeding up their readiness for testing.
"We believe they have the ability to mount a nuclear
warhead on a Rodong.
In 1962, the United States launched a ballistic missile with a live
warhead in what was known as the Frigate Bird test.
It is capable of carrying 500-800 kg nuclear as well as conventional
warheads at a striking distance of 700 kms.
MIRV made it possible to load each missile with as many as 10
warheads, each of which could be aimed at a different target.
Dehqan said of the other, unnamed missile: "It is capable of evading the enemy's anti-missile defense systems, destroying massive targets and striking multiple targets with multiple
warheads." No photo of the missile was released.
'These tests are early indicators that we are on the right track in developing a
warhead that meets the requirements defined by our armed forces, and that gives our Soldiers and Marines a distinct advantage on the battlefield,' said Scott Arnold, vice president of precision fires at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control.
It would not be fair, though, to the US and Russia to instead exempt, until US/Russian
warhead levels are all the way down to those of the other nuclear weapon states, the latter states from the transparency, cooperation, and good-faith demonstrations attendant upon prompt (90-day) and internationally-monitored dismantling of a significant percentage (such as 25) of a state's nuclear arsenal.
The explosion happened in the Aroki area of Mahmood Raqi, where some children were playing with the
warhead, the governor's spokesman said.
