The
White House Millennium Council and USDA asked AMERICAN FORESTS to plant Millennium Groves of historic trees in each state, at Versailles, and at the French Embassy in Washington and to launch Global ReLeaf Sarajevo at the White House and Operation: Silent Witness (to honor WWII vets) at Arlington National Cemetery.
The Millennium Green project, part of the
White House Millennium Council, also signed on.

Global ReLeaf Sarajevo is a collaborative effort of AMERICAN FORESTS, "Park" Sarajevo, the Salt Lake Organizing Committee (SLOC) for the 2002 Winter Olympics, the USDA Forest Service, the

Under the program, launched by Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman, the capital of every state and territory will receive a gift of 100 Famous & Historic Trees from the Department of Agriculture as part of its Millennium Green activities, which are endorsed by the
White House Millennium Council.
The program is a partnership of the

Air France also flew Deborah Gangloff, AMERICAN FORESTS' executive director, and Jeff Meyer, director of the Famous & Historic Trees project, to Versailles along with Anne Donovan from the
White House Millennium Council, which designated this planting the first International Millennium Groves are 100 Famous & Historic Trees planted to encourage the creation of healthier, more livable communities.
