Xfce is an extremely lightweight desktop environment.
Not every system is going to run the KDE desktop quickly; however, alternative desktops such as
XFCE offer good functionality and work fine in slower (or older) systems.
Linux already has numerous desktop environments, KDE, Gnome, LXDE,
XFCE, and recently, Unity by Canonical.
As always this version continues with that trend with packages available for KDE 4.6, Gnome 2.32,
Xfce and LXDE.
