Of all the three investigated conditions, strain hardening after
yield point leads to much higher ultimate failure strength than yield strength.
The ultimate strengths and
yield points for large old trees under severe wind loads were evaluated for this study taking into account not only the material nonlinearities of wood and the FRP materials used but also the geometric nonlinearity caused by changes in the equilibrium due to the deformed configuration of the system.
For each case of the investigated frequency, the variation of amplitude has an inflection point just around the
yield point of the tested steel sample.
Tensile test diagrams of all the specimens of steel CS500 within the group exposed the
yield point. Steel's CS700 tensile diagrams hadn't exhibited the
yield point.
If the applied stresses are below the
yield point of the material, the failure will be manifested as brittle fracture, often referred to as creep rupture (see Fig.
After aged for 16h, the rheological properties and filtration of the fluid samples were measured using a model ZNN-D6S viscometer (Hai tongda, Co., Ltd., Qingdao, China), including Apparent viscosity (AV), Plastic viscosity (PV),
Yield point (YP), Dynamic plastic ratio (YP/PV), API Filtration (FL) and Friction coefficient ().
Many technical problems need to be solved in order to fully understand the rock failure process (Sun and Zhu, 2014), such as accurately determining the Poisson's ratio and identifying rock
yield point. Additionally, the evolution of cracks with macro deformation and failure is not well understood.
This curve stops just beyond the
yield point so that the details contained in the initial stages of the test can be easily viewed.
