After multivariable adjustment, the intervention reduced total unplanned hospitalisations by 26 per cent,
atrial fibrillation related hospitalisations by 31 per cent, and other cardiovascular hospitalisations by 49 per cent, while having no impact on non-cardiac hospitalisations.
The conversion rate of
atrial fibrillation, maintenance rate of sinus rhythm, ICU monitoring time and hospitalization time of the two groups were also observed after treatment.
In contrast, individuals who experienced migraines without aura did not show a significantly increased risk of
atrial fibrillation.
They found a 40 per cent increase in existing
Atrial fibrillation for patients in the highest quartile of fT4 levels compared to patients in the lowest, and a 16 per cent increase in newly developing
Atrial fibrillation during 3-years of follow up.
Study author Dr Chengxuan Qiu, of the Karolinska Institute and Stockholm University in Sweden, said: "Compromised blood flow caused by
atrial fibrillation may affect the brain in a number of ways.
Conclusion:
Atrial fibrillation was found with increased frequency in patients with acute ischemic stroke.
He further explained that obese people who exercised a lot were able to limit the increase in risk to no more than approximately 50 per cent, which suggests that physical activity is good for limiting the increased risk of
atrial fibrillation in obese people.
Atrial fibrillation in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease: a comprehensive review.
The researchers also found that, in this same 16-year period, the proportion of patients with
atrial fibrillation who were being prescribed anticoagulants more than doubled - rising by 40.1 per cent from 35.4 per cent in 2000 to 75.5 cent in 2016.
Researcher Andrew Foy said the results suggest that for patients with both obesity and
atrial fibrillation, losing weight has the potential to help treat and manage their
atrial fibrillation.
But the commonest sign of
atrial fibrillation is an irregular heartbeat.
