The Symfony extended depth of focus intraocular lens, like many multifocal intraocular lenses, relies on diffractive optics to focus light at different distances from the lens.
In order to study the effect of DOE, we replaced A([[theta].sub.1], [[theta].sub.2]) by [A.sub.0]([[theta].sub.1], [[theta].sub.2])[T.sub.0]([[theta].sub.1], [[theta].sub.2]), it is necessary to increase the concentric rings of the DOE to increase the depth of focus in the focal region.
Depth of focus of an imaging system is defined to be the distance range (usually in millimeters] from the best-focused image distance where the resolution does not change or, equivalently, the blur caused by defocusing goes unnoticed
For a real three dimensional object, we hope to obtain information in all three dimensions, and thus the depth of focus is always an important parameter for an optical instrument.
Additional benefits include the reliable detection of height information with step heights from 20 nm up to the millimeter range, as well as images with a depth of focus otherwise only possible with scanning electron microscopes.

When used in phased array mode, the instrument offers up to 64 individual channels and the operator can electronically multiplex a multi-element probe to achieve precise control over the angle of inspection, the amplitude and the depth of focus of each individual ultrasonic beam.
My wide-angle lens creates a layered sense of depth and provides maximum depth of focus from foreground to background.
Osprey's military titles are very subject-specific, allowing for a depth of focus most other general-interest surveys lack.
