External cephalic version for breech presentation is performed at about thirty-seven to thirty-eight weeks gestation.
Conclusion: External cephalic version at 34 and 35 weeks increase the likelihood of cephalic presentation at birth but it does not decrease the rate of cesarean sections and may increase the rate of preterm birth in the early ECV group.
Early external cephalic version for breech presentation (at 34 to 36 weeks gestation instead of after 37 weeks) appears to decrease the rate of noncephalic presentation at birth, as well as cesarean sections, without increasing maternal or fetal morbidity or mortality.

When the ObGyn attempted an external cephalic version to turn the baby, the uterus ruptured and the placenta was damaged.
These include reducing contractions in a woman with tachysystole of the uterus due to pitocin or for intrauterine resuscitation, adjunct to external cephalic version, relaxing an inverted uterus or as an adjunct to managing inversion of the uterus, transporting a patient with contractions from one location to another, and rarely when delivering a second twin when the uterus needs to be relaxed.
The management algorithm may include external cephalic version, elective cesarean delivery before onset of labor, or cesarean delivery after onset of labor.
