Jones, "Hexachlorobenzene in the global environment: emissions, levels, distribution, trends and processes," Science of the Total Environment, vol.
In general, the variability ranged between 25 and 35% for most of the studied compounds, except for p,p'-DDT and hexachlorobenzene, due to their degradation and volatility, respectively.
The combination of olestra with weight loss was also studied in mice with body burdens with [sup.14]C-labelled hexachlorobenzene (HCB) [16].
The representative persistent organic compounds were hexachlorobenzene (HCB, 99%), a typical polychlorinated hydrocarbon and two polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs): phenanthrene (PHE, 97%) and fluoranthene (FLU, 98%) purchased from Sigma-Aldrich, Germany.
Solutions to obtain the calibration curve were prepared by dilution of working solutions in the following concentrations: aldrin and dieldrin (0.24 - 0.36 [micro]g [L.sup.-1]), o,p'-DDT, DDD, p,p'-DDE and Lindane (16 - 24 [micro]g [L.sup.-1]), Methoxychlor and Endosulphan (160 - 240 pg [L.sup.-1]), Endrin (4.8 - 7.2 pg [L.sup.-1]), Hexachlorobenzene (8.0 12 [micro]g [L.sup.-1]), Mirex (0.8 - 1.2 [micro]g [L.sup.-1]), [alpha]-chlordane and X-chlordane (1.6 - 2.4 pg [L.sup.-1]).
Relationship of lead, mercury, mirex, dichlorodiphenyldichloroethylene, hexachlorobenzene, and polychlorinated biphenyls to timing of menarche among Akwesasne Mohawk girls.
It prohibits and/or limits the production and use of twelve POPs: aldrin, chlordane, dieldrin, endrin, heptachlor, hexachlorobenzene, mirex toxaphene, polychlorobiphenyls (PCBs), DDT, polychlorodibenzo-p-dioxins and polychlorodibenzofurans.
Analyses included 20 OC pesticides: hexachlorobenzene (HCB), [alpha]-hexachlorocyclohexane ([alpha]-HCH), lindane ([gamma]-HCH), aldrin, dieldrin, methoxychlor, mirex, sum of endosulfans ([alpha]- and [beta]-endosulfan), sum of chlordanes (heptachlor, heptachlor epoxide, [gamma]-chlordane [[gamma]-CHL], cis-chlordane, trans-nonachlor), and sum of dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethanes (DDT) and metabolites (o, p'- and p, p'- DDD, DDE, DDT), and 24 PCB congeners (8, 18, 28, 29, 44, 50, 52, 66, 77, 87, 101, 104, 105, 118, 126, 128, 138, 153, 170, 180, 187, 195, 206, 209).
Concentrations of organochlorine pesticides and hexachlorobenzene in the water samples also remained below the established target values in groundwater and limit values set to effluents.
However, Access to Information documents reveal that DND itself had actually sprayed more than 1.3 million litres of Agent Orange and Agent Purple (both containing deadly dioxins) as well as Agent White, which contains hexachlorobenzene, from 1956 to 1984.
-- NARAPs have been developed for six substances (DDT, chlordane, PCBs, mercury, dioxins/furans, and hexachlorobenzene).
They show that ministers this week (Tues) ordered that aldrin, chlordane, dieldrin, endrin, heptachlor, hexachlorobenzene, mirex, toxaphene, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB), DDT, chlordecone, the sum of alpha, beta- and gamma-HCH, and hexabromobiphenyl be present in wastes at concentrations not exceeding 50 mg/kg.
