The
Hospital Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has made several recommendations for the development of a comprehensive, institution-specific plan to detect, prevent, and control infection and colonization with VRE.[8] This plan involves the collaboration of infection control, pharmacy and therapeutics, microbiology, nursing, and housekeeping services; and the HICPAC recommendations form the basis for implementation of quality improvement programs and the provision of continuing education programs stressing an aggressive approach for all direct patient care providers.
