The size of adhesive droplets (with and without soy flour) in the spray was quantified by spraying on poster paper from a distance of 55 cm.
The sprue failure for the soy plastic resin was because of the low mechanical properties of the soy plastic formulation caused by the inclusion of soy flour. Soy flour was utilized to reduce the overall cost of the resulting resin.
Eligible participants were randomized to one of the 3 groups: 40 g soy flour (whole soy group), 40 g low-fat milk powder + 63 mg daidzein (daidzein group), or 40 g low-fat milk powder (placebo group) daily each for 6 month.
The emulsion capacity (45.6%) was higher than those of African yam bean dehulled seed flour (10.0-20.0%; Oshodi et al., 1997), soy flour (18.0%; Lin et al., 1974) and dehulled Afzelia africana seeds (35.25%; Ogungbenle and Omaejalile, 2010).
"Right now I'm trying to develop a way to use soy flour, which is the least expensive soy product, to make the filters."
AoIn order to produce a more realistic product, we had to tweak the process and add extra fiber to give the soy a stringy feeling that tears into irregular, coarse fibers similar to chicken.AoTo create the soy chicken, Hsieh starts with a soy protein extracted from soy flour. The soy then goes through an extrusion cooking process that uses water, heat and pressure while pushing the mixture through a cylinder with two augers.AoThis particular soy substitute is different because we are working with a higher moisture content, which is up to 75%,Ao Hsieh said.
To create the soy chicken, lead researcher Fu-Hung Hsieh, an MU professor of biological engineering and food science in the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources and the College of Engineering, extracts soy protein extracted from soy flour.
However, researchers continue to toy with the idea, including Agricultural Research Service (ARS) scientists Lei Jong and Jeffrey Byars, who are testing soy flour as a "green" filler for tires and other natural rubber products.
