Status epilepticus (SE) is an epileptic seizure of more than five minutes or more than one seizure activity within a five minute period without the person coming back to state of health in between them.
Convulsive status epilepticus (CSE) was defined as continuous convulsive seizures lasting more than 5 min or two or more seizures during which the patient did not return to baseline consciousness.
Refractory status epilepticus (RSE) occurs when seizures persist despite administration of one first-line medication (IV benzodiazepine) and one second-line medication (IV antiepileptic drug) [3].
