The ring itself never touches the reed or the mouthpiece and is available in two sizes: small, for soprano clarinet, and soprano, alto and slim tenor saxophone mouthpieces; and large, for all saxophones and bass clarinet. Markus plays the flugelhorn, the silver trumpet and the piccolo trumpet; Tara the clarinet, bass clarinet and the basset horn. Prokofiev originally created this 1936 composition to introduce children to the orchestra, but Friday uses instruments more akin to a Kurt Weill arrangement - banjo, guitar, accordion and bass clarinet. |
