Biliopancreatic Diversion - This is a procedure that is not used in the United States because it involves removing a part of the stomach and then connecting the remainder to the end of the small intestine. There are two biliopancreatic diversion surgeries: a biliopancreatic diversion and a biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch. This procedure, also known as the biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch (or the Distal Gastric Bypass with Duodenal Switch), solves a lot of nutritional problems related to other forms of WLS, and enables a good eating quality compared to other WLS procedures. |
