Sebba's method, as outlined last month in a letter in the July 18 NATURE, involves dissolving a small amount of calcium carbide in molten lead. 24 per diluted share, primarily due to the December 1998 divestiture of the Company's calcium carbide and carbon products operations. For large foundries, the use of calcium carbide has declined from 54% in 1988 to 18% in 1998. |
